Our Story: A Culinary Super Food

beauty + flavor + profound nourishment

Culinary Superfood

We bring the vibrant life of fresh microgreens to your kitchen in a powerful, shelf-stable form, freeze-dried microgreen spices.

Chef Lela’s Microgreens are grown with care in organic soil that is hand-sifted and nurtured in a pristine environment using premium trays and specialized lighting.

Every tray is hand-watered with specially filtered and charged water, nourished with organic mineral nutrients, and tended with genuine love. The result is a pure, nutrient-dense harvest that we gently freeze-dry to lock in maximum flavor, color, and nutritional value.

______________

What are Microgreens?

______________

Microgreens are the tender, immature seedlings of vegetables, herbs, and select grains.

They are harvested at their peak vitality, just 7 to 21 days after germination. Somewhere between a sprout and a baby leaf, they represent the concentrated essence of the full grown plant.

They deliver intense flavor, vibrant color, and exceptional nutritional density.Unlike sprouts, which are harvested before true leaves develop, microgreens feature delicate stems, cotyledons, and first true leaves.

They are snipped just above the root when only one to three inches tall.

This gives them a refined burst of flavor, from peppery radish to sweet pea and earthy sunflower, that elevates any dish.

Beyond their culinary elegance, microgreens are nutritional powerhouses.

Research shows they can contain up to 40 times more vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants than their mature counterparts.

Rich in vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene, potassium, iron, and zinc, they support cellular health, reduce inflammation, and promote radiant skin, strong immunity, and overall vitality. In my kitchen, microgreens are not just garnish.

They are a daily superfood that brings beauty, flavor, and profound nourishment to every plate.

Her impressive career includes owning and operating Lela's Cafe in Ashland, Oregon, where she served as Head Chef, Pastry Chef, and Wine Director.

Under her leadership, the restaurant earned recognition on the Food Network with Rachael Ray.

She has worked as a Private Chef, Fine Dining Server at upscale establishments, Pastry Chef, and Caterer, consistently elevating menus and delivering exceptional dining experiences.

Lela's journey with microgreens began as a personal quest for vibrant, living nutrition she could enjoy every day, even while traveling. Dissatisfied with the short shelf life and limited availability of fresh microgreens, she developed a unique freeze drying process that preserves maximum flavor, color, and nutritional integrity.

This passion project eventually became MicroQueen, her way of sharing the concentrated power of fresh microgreens in a luxurious, convenient seasoning form.

An artist at heart, Lela is also an accomplished photographer and designer. She brings the same creativity, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence into every jar of MicroQueen seasonings.

Today, she continues to craft exceptional, nutrient dense products that bridge the gap between gourmet flavor and true wellness.
